Fishing at Svartsmara By Samfällighet's fishing area is conducted as "catch and release".

Trolling fishing is prohibited in the fishing area.

Fishing with live bait is prohibited (worm allowed)

Play areas are protected with signage that must be respected.

Using live transducers is considered fishing and requires a fishing license.

General rules for sport fishing in Åland

• Avoid damaging nature and the environment.
• Become familiar with current regulations and conservation periods, protected areas, minimum dimensions and fragile nature. Respect these.
• Never fish without a permit and fishing license for sport fishing.
• Use the methods and gear that give the fish the best possible chance of survival if/when released.
• Immediately kill caught fish that are to be kept.
• Never catch more fish than you can consume.

NOTE: From April 15 to June 15, sport fishing from land is prohibited, out of consideration for nesting seabirds.

NOTE! From June 1 to June 30, the pike perch is protected.

Measure

Perch: 20 cm 10pcs/day/person (Fish under 20 cm are considered to have no food value and should therefore be released)
Bream: 42 cm
Pike: 60-85 cm 1pc/day/person
Pike perch: 40-60 cm 1 pc/day/person

MONITORING

Fishing in the area is supervised by representatives appointed by Svartsmara By Samfällighet. Fishing licenses must be presented to them upon request. They also have the right to remove illegal fishing gear and dispose of illegally obtained catch. Illegal fishing may be reported to the police.
